Kate Rabinowitz

Independent Data Journalist
Kate is an independent data journalist who covers her city, Washington D.C. She has worked with organizations including CityLab, Vox, D.C. Policy Center, and The Sunlight Foundation. Previously, Kate was a Data Fellow at Propublica where her worked garnered awards including The Paul Tobenkin Award and The Al Nakkula Award for Police Reporting. Before entering journalism, she was an Economist within the Treasury Department.

In her community, Kate serves as the co-captain of her local Code for America brigade, Code for DC. She also co-organizers Tech Lady Hackathon, a friendly day of learning, hacking, and community building for hundreds of women in the DC area. She is the recipient of the 2016 Technical.ly DC Technologist of the Year Award and the 2017 DCFemTech Powerful Data Scientist Award.
