DESCRIPTION: In early 2018 California State Senator Scott Wiener introduced SB-827, Planning and Zoning: Transit-Rich Housing Bonus.This is a highly contentious bill with significant implications to California’s housing crisis. Policy Club, a small group of volunteers with experience in local government, public relations, and data science digitized the specifications of the bill including local zoning codes to map the potential impacts of the bill at the parcel level. Panelist will share their experiences moving from years of work in local gov and Code for America brigades to working on policy analysis and lobbying in Sacramento.
